Why MidOpt
For 30+ years, Midwest Optical Systems has designed and built optical filters for one job: making machine-vision systems work reliably in the real world.
Integrators build a vision system — camera, lens, lighting, software — in a controlled lab, dial it in, and it works beautifully. Then it ships to the customer’s factory, where windows, overhead lights, forklifts, and sunlight wash out the contrast the system depended on. The Factory Acceptance Test passed; the Site Acceptance Test fails.
A MidOpt filter is the part that closes that gap. It controls exactly which light reaches the sensor, so the system that worked on your bench keeps working on their floor — in any lighting. It’s roughly 1% of the system’s cost protecting the other 99%. That’s why we say a filter is a necessity, not an accessory.
Every MidOpt filter is built to survive and perform where it counts.
Holds its passband across the real range of ray angles in a lens — so contrast stays stable on the floor.
Smooth passbands that degrade gracefully with angle and temperature, instead of shifting and clipping.
40/20 double-side-polished glass with hard, cleanable coatings built for years on the line.
